We provide fruit and vegetable snacks for the children every day. The children can bring a snack from home provided it is a fruit or a vegetable.

We also ask that the children bring their own water bottle to school with water only.

Reading books are changed on a Monday and Thursday, but we ask that the children bring their books each day. The children take home two books; one is phonetically decodable and the other is to read and enjoy with their families.

In the summer term, all of the year 1 children will have a phonics screening test. This is a national test to assess how well the children can decode certain words. To do this the children will need to be able to recognise the letters and the sounds that they represent. This is an important part of achieving reading fluency!

We have PE twice a week. In term One, our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. PE days for consecutive terms will be confirmed. Please come dressed in your PE kit on your PE days. For our PE uniform we ask that the children wear a white top and black or gray trousers and in the warmer months, green shorts. We also ask that the children wear black plimsolls or black plain trainers.

We are lucky to have a wonderful forest on our site. In the first term 1Ma has Forest School sessions for the first three weeks and 1Ml will have their sessions for the consecutive three weeks. We are still awaiting confirmation about our Forest School sessions for the upcoming terms. Volunteers for Forest School are welcome. Please come and sign up on the sheets posted outside the classroom doors.

Warm wishes

Miss Cook, Mr James and Miss May
